Clic Closure
We regret to say the Clic platform is closing at the end of March 2025. Demand for the platform has significantly decreased and the costs of monitoring the platform are considerable.
New sign-ups are no longer permitted so that we can support the existing community.
The Clic platform will close on Monday 31st March 2025
Following a comprehensive review, involving feedback surveys, focus groups, and website data analysis; it’s evident that demand and user engagement has significantly dropped. In its current form, Clic isn’t meeting the needs it was during the pandemic – as the landscape and needs of our community have shifted. Alongside this, the costs associated with maintaining and moderating an active online community have remained high.
Clic relies heavily on Mental Health UK’s unrestricted reserves and as a charity we have to ensure we remain financially resilient to fulfil our mission to provide people with the tools they need to live their best possible life at home, school and work.
Mental Health UK’s Board of Trustees decided at the end of 2024 to phase out Clic by the end of March 2025. This allows the charity to focus resources on delivering programmes and services that are aligned with the evolving needs of those we serve.
We understand this transition may be challenging for those who have relied on the platform. However, we remain committed to providing support through other avenues that better align with the post-pandemic landscape. We appreciate your understanding and support during this process.
Existing members will be able to continue using the platform, adding comments in forums, and accessing its resources until closure on Monday 31st March 2025 at midday.
After that date, the Clic platform will display a notice informing people the platform is closed and signposting people to other sources of support for several months to ensure people reaching out for support are guided to other reputable sources.
In recognition that the platform is due to cease operating as a peer support platform at the end of March 2025, we made the decision to stop allowing new subscribers as of Friday 17th January 2025 at midday.
This was done to ensure that we can focus our efforts on supporting the current community during this transition period.
We understand this may be disappointing for those who were hoping to join the platform. However, we believe this the most prudent and considered approach to wind down the platform in a thoughtful and gradual manner. Ensuring that we provide the most support to our existing members as we approach the platform’s closure.
We have informed users via the Clic platform via a pop up and banner across the platform. Additionally, we’ve created this FAQ and signposting page in order to clarify any concerns and provide alternative support services.
We are being open and transparent about the closure timeline and what will happen to user data and accounts to reassure users throughout this transition.
Within existing Clic forums, we’re welcoming users to share their experiences, highlight their favorite moments, and exchange farewells with the community. This will give everyone an opportunity to find closure together before the platform closes.
We’ve also reached out to Mind, who operate a similar mental health and wellbeing peer support platform, and we are making efforts to signpost users to alternative online communities and peer support platforms that may be able to provide similar services and connection opportunities. While we can’t facilitate the direct transfer of user data, we want to ensure Clic users have options to continue engaging with like-minded individuals and accessing the resources they need.
Our support team is also available to assist users with any questions or concerns they have during this transition period. We recognise this closure will be difficult for many, and we’re committed to doing what we can to support a smooth winding down of the Clic platform.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about how we’re supporting users through this process. We’re here to help in any way we can.
When the Clic platform closes on Monday 31st March 2025, all user data and accounts that have been inactive for more than 6 years will be permanently deleted from our systems. This includes:
- profile information and settings
- posts, messages, or comments made in the forums
- personal data or activity tracking associated with the account
If you wanted to capture a comment you could take a screenshot but beyond that there will be no option to retrieve or access any of this information after the closure date. Your data will be fully and permanently erased from our servers.
We understand this may be unsettling, as you may want to preserve content or connections you’ve made on the platform. However, we have a legal and ethical obligation to ensure all user information is handled in accordance with our policy.
As stated in our privacy policy, legally we need to keep some records in case there is a query, and we will retain profile information for those users who have been active on the site within 6 years. We will review the data annually, deleting anything that has gone outside of the 6 years to ensure we minimise the information we keep.
No, we’re unable to allow you to share personal contact details with other Clic users. We recognise this may be disappointing, as you may want to maintain connections made through the community.
However, we have a legal obligation to protect the privacy and personal data of all Clic subscribers, even after the platform’s closure. Our top priority is safeguarding the privacy and security of all our users’ data.
If you wanted to capture a comment you could take a screenshot but beyond that there will be no option to retrieve or access any of this information after the closure date.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope you understand the importance of upholding our ethical and legal obligations around data protection. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team: [email protected]
We encourage users to explore alternative online and in-person peer support options that may be available in the community. At the bottom of this page you will find a list of other services that could be able to provide support. These are only suggestions and not recommendations so do make sure you read their policies or terms and conditions before you join.
Nothing on the platform will be preserved or accessible beyond Monday 31st March 2025. The platform’s resources, information and self-help content are available on Mental Health UK’s main website: www.mentalhealth-uk.org
For data protection purposes, none of the personal data of our users will be stored beyond Monday 31st March 2025. All the comments, messages, tracker data, personal login details will be completely wiped from the website’s server and there will be no copy accessible to anyone anywhere.
We understand this may be disappointing for those who’ve relied on the platform, but we have an obligation to protect the privacy and data of our users. Once the platform closes there will be no way to retrieve or access any of the content or personal information that was stored on the site.
If you have any questions or concerns about the closure and data deletion, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at: [email protected]
No, we don’t have any plans to host virtual events or facilitate final goodbyes for the Clic community before the platform closes.
However, we encourage you to use the existing forums on the platform to share your experiences, highlights, and best wishes with other users. This will allow the community to connect and find closure in their own way before the site shuts down.
While we recognise the value of coming together for a formal send-off, the resources and effort required to organise and moderate such an event are simply not feasible given the impending closure. Our priority is ensuring a smooth transition and phasing out the platform in the most responsible manner possible.
We hope you’ll take advantage of the remaining time on Clic to connect with fellow community members, express your gratitude, and find your own way to say goodbye.
Bloom on Clic content will be migrated to the Mental Health UK website. In April, when Clic is closed, educators can access all the Bloom resources on our main website.
The communities on Clic will also be closed. Individual managers of those communities will look to communicate via different methods to their supporters/ audience. If you need more information please email [email protected]
If you have any questions that we haven’t answered here, do please email our support team: [email protected]
We will endeavour to respond within one working week.
